Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Introduction

Welcome to SCNE. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our app, our websites (such as scne.ae) and our other services.

SCNE is operated by SCNE Influence Technologies FZCO, a free zone company licensed by the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (licence no. 86459), of Premises DSO-IFZA, IFZA Properties, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, UAE ("SCNE", "we", "us"). SCNE is the controller of the personal data described in this policy, except where this policy says that a venue is the controller.

Information We Collect

Account Information: Email address, username, profile photo, and other details you provide during registration.

Usage Data: Information about how you use the app, including events attended, venues visited, and interactions.

Device Information: Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.

Location Data: With your permission, we collect location data to provide location-based services.

Age: your age range, which we ask for when you join to confirm that you are 18 or over, and your date of birth if you have given it to us. We do not ask for your date of birth when you register. We ask for it only when a feature needs it.

UAE residency: when you join as a member, we ask whether you live in the UAE ("I live in the UAE" or "I'm just visiting"). An answer is needed to finish joining, and either answer is fine. We record your answer and when you gave it. We ask because some SCNE member promotions are open only to people who live in the UAE, and we use your answer to check who can take part in them. Saying that you are visiting does not limit anything else in the app. You can change your answer at any time in Edit profile.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve our services
  • Personalise your experience
  • Send you notifications about events and updates
  • Connect you with other users and venues
  • Ensure the security of our platform

Referrals. If you invite a friend, or join through a friend's link or code, we record the link between the two accounts, whether the invited friend became a member and the status of their first membership payment, so that we can add the free month and prevent misuse. Payment status and card matching are checked with our payment processor, Stripe. To stop one card earning free months across several accounts we keep a one-way coded reference to each card used for a membership; we never store card numbers or other card details.

Partner referral rewards. If you refer a partner and a reward becomes due, we use your name, email address and phone number (if you've given us one) to contact you, and the bank details you send us to pay you. We keep a record of each payment (amount, date, reference and the name on the receiving account) for our accounting records, including after you delete your account. We don't share these details with the partner you referred, or add them to our marketing or sales tools.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with:

  • Venues and event hosts (when you attend their events)
  • Other users (based on your privacy settings)
  • Service providers who assist in operating our platform
  • Legal authorities when required by law

We also make some information public, and some reaches social media platforms:

  • The public: partner business information, and the partner team members who have chosen to be shown, as described in "Partners and Their Teams" below.
  • Social media platforms: when we post on them, and when you interact with our accounts, as described in "SCNE on Social Media" below.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Control your privacy settings

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your data, and to receive a copy of your data to take elsewhere (data portability). To use any of your rights, email privacy@scne.ae.

Marketing Communications

SCNE lets venues you've visited send you occasional promotional emails — new events, quiet perks, offers for regulars. This section explains exactly how that works, in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45/2021 (the Personal Data Protection Law, or "PDPL").

What data is used: your first name, email address, and a record of which SCNE venues you've checked in at. Venues do not receive your raw contact details — SCNE sends the email on their behalf.

Lawful basis: your explicit opt-in consent, given at signup or later in profile settings. The box is never pre-ticked. Consent is stored with a timestamp.

Who can email you: only venues where you have physically checked in via SCNE. A venue you've never visited cannot contact you through this channel.

Why you're receiving each email: every marketing email states the venue name and the date you checked in, so the reason for contact is always transparent.

Withdrawing consent: you can turn off marketing emails at any time in Profile → Settings, and the change takes effect immediately. Every email also contains a one-click unsubscribe link that works without logging in — both a per-venue option (stop hearing from just that venue) and a global option (stop all venue marketing).

Retention: send records are kept for up to 24 months for deliverability and fraud-prevention purposes, then deleted. Withdrawing consent stops future sends immediately; the historical record of past sends is retained for the retention window.

SCNE's role: venues are the data controllers for the content of their campaigns. SCNE acts as the data processor — we handle delivery, enforce consent, and add the mandatory unsubscribe footer. SCNE never sells your email address and venues cannot export it.

Partners and Their Teams

This section is for the businesses that partner with SCNE (venues and other partner businesses) and for the people who own, run or work for them.

What we collect. About the business: its name and trading names, logo, address and location, opening hours, contact details, website and social media handles, photos, menus, events and offers, and its plan, billing and payout records (payments and payouts are handled by our payment processor, Stripe). About the people: the names, work email addresses, phone numbers and roles of the owners, managers and staff who use the partner account, their login and staff-access details, and, for the person who signs up the business, the trade licence and identity documents we ask for to check the business.

Why we use it. To run the partner account and the partnership under the SCNE Partnership Agreement, to check the business and meet our legal duties, to keep SCNE safe, and to show and promote the partner as described below.

What is public. The business information a partner publishes on SCNE (its name, logo, address, opening hours, photos, menus, events, offers, website and social media handles) is public by design. We show it in the app and on our websites. We may also use it in our social media posts, emails, newsletters, press, printed materials and presentations to show that the business is an SCNE partner, as the SCNE Partnership Agreement allows. If a business trades under a person's own name, that name is part of this public information.

People shown with the partnership. We may publish the name, photo, job title and social media handle of a partner's owner, manager, host, chef, performer or other team member (for example "Run by" on a listing, or a social media post introducing a new partner) only where that person, or the partner on their behalf, has chosen to show them. Our lawful basis is that person's consent. When a partner gives us someone's details or photo to publish, the partner confirms that the person has agreed and has been told how SCNE will use them. We never publish partner team members' identity documents, logins, staff-access details or private contact details.

Withdrawing consent or objecting. A person who is shown, or the partner, can ask us to stop at any time by emailing privacy@scne.ae. Within 2 business days we will remove that person's details and images from the app, our websites and our own social media accounts, and we will not use them in anything new. We cannot recall printed items already handed out, or copies that other people have already shared or saved.

How long we keep it. We keep partner account data while the partnership lasts. When it ends we remove the listing as the SCNE Partnership Agreement describes, and keep only the records we need for accounting, tax, legal claims and fraud prevention, for as long as the law requires or allows.

Partner Sales Records

This section is for the businesses that partner with SCNE, that apply to partner with us or that we approach about partnering, and for the people we deal with there.

What we record. The business's name and details, and the work contact details of the people we deal with there, including the person who signs the business up: their name, job title, work email address and phone or WhatsApp number. We also record our notes of calls, meetings and messages with them, where an application stands (including whether we have received and checked the documents we ask for, but never the documents themselves), and the business's plan with SCNE and how it is using SCNE. We do not add members' or waitlist sign-ups' details to these records.

How the business found us. When a business applies, we note the campaign tags on the link that brought it to our website or to the application (such as the source and campaign name), which of our pages for businesses it came from, the website that sent it to the application (the website's name only, never the full address), which app or browser the link was opened in, such as Instagram, and the type of device (phone, tablet or computer), its operating system, and whether the application was made on the web or in the SCNE app. We also note your answer to how you heard about SCNE, if you give one when you apply. These come from the link, your browser and the application itself, not from HubSpot, so we note them even if you declined HubSpot's cookies. We do not record your IP address with these details, or anything else that could single out your device apart from HubSpot's identifier for your browser described below. If you viewed our pages for businesses on scne.ae without declining HubSpot's cookies, HubSpot also links the pages you viewed there before you applied to your record, as our Cookie Policy explains. In our own systems we keep HubSpot's identifier for your browser for 30 days at most, and the other details for 30 days if you do not apply and 12 months at most if you do.

Why we use it. To follow up with the business, to sign it up and onboard it, and to support the partnership. Our lawful basis is taking steps at the business's request before an agreement, performing the SCNE Partnership Agreement, and our legitimate interest in offering partnerships to businesses we approach first and in knowing which of our marketing brings partners to SCNE.

Where it is kept. In HubSpot, the customer relationship management (CRM) service we use for partner sales, which stores it in its data centre in the European Union. HubSpot is our service provider and uses it only to provide its service to us. In a few cases, such as support, HubSpot may process it outside the European Union under its data processing terms with us.

How long we keep it. While we work with the business. After that we delete the people's details from HubSpot: 90 days after the last change to an application that was never sent, 12 months after we turn an application down, 5 years after a business's partner listing is closed, and 24 months after the last activity with a business that decided not to partner with us, unless we still deal with that person for another business. We check for records that are due every week. Records about the business itself may be kept longer.

Your rights. To see, correct or delete these records, or to object to how we use them, email privacy@scne.ae.

Members in SCNE Marketing

We never show members in SCNE's marketing (our social media posts, adverts, press, printed materials or presentations) without consent. This covers your name, username, profile photo, photos or videos of you, and anything you post on SCNE. We will ask you first, for example before we reshare a post in which you tagged SCNE, and you can change your mind at any time.

Partners sometimes take photos and videos at their venues and events and share them with SCNE. Partners must have the agreement of the people shown before they share them. If you appear in a photo or video that SCNE has published and want it removed, email privacy@scne.ae and we will take it down from the places we control within 2 business days.

Showing your profile to other members inside the app, in line with this policy and your privacy settings, is part of how SCNE works and is not marketing.

SCNE on Social Media

SCNE has accounts on social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn, where we post about SCNE, our partners, and their offers and events.

If you follow, like, comment on, tag, mention or message one of our accounts, the platform shares with us what its settings allow, usually your public name, handle and what you sent. We use this to reply to you and to run our accounts. We do not link it to your SCNE account unless you ask us to, for example when you contact us for support.

Each platform is a separate company that collects and uses your data as its own controller, under its own privacy policy, and often stores it outside the UAE. This policy does not cover what the platforms do, so please check their policies and settings.

We do not upload members' contact details to social media platforms to target adverts.

Our Website, Cookies and Analytics

This policy also covers our website, scne.ae, so one privacy policy applies to the SCNE app and the website.

Joining the waitlist. If you join the SCNE waitlist on our website, we collect your name and email address, the type of sign-up you choose (member, venue, promoter or creator) and, if you give them, your phone number, your area, your Instagram handle and, for a venue, its name. We use them to manage your place on the waitlist, to send you a confirmation email, to tell you when SCNE launches and send you updates about SCNE, and to reply to you.

Marketing consent on the waitlist. The waitlist form has a box for promotional emails from venues you visit on SCNE. It is never pre-ticked. If you tick it, we record your consent and when you gave it, and venue emails then work as described in "Marketing Communications" above. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Contacting us. If you contact us, we use your name, contact details and message to reply to you and to give you support.

Where you came from. When you arrive on our website from a link, we note the campaign tags on that link (utm tags, such as the source, medium and campaign name, or a code such as the one on our printed QR codes), the website that sent you, and the page you first landed on. Your browser keeps this only for that visit. Separately, we keep the longer record described under "How We Measure Our Marketing" below. If you join the waitlist, we save it with your sign-up so that we know which of our campaigns, posts and printed materials bring people to SCNE. If you follow one of our links to apply as an SCNE partner, we add these tags and the page you clicked it on to that link, so that we can note them with your application (see "Partner Sales Records" above).

HubSpot on our pages for businesses. Our pages for businesses on scne.ae, our contact page and our business-card page, which our Cookie Policy lists, also use HubSpot. Unless you decline its cookies, HubSpot records the pages viewed and the links and buttons clicked on those pages, with details of the browser and device used, the IP address and a fingerprint of the browser (a value worked out from browser and device details, such as its fonts and screen, so that it can recognise the browser on a later visit). If you decline, HubSpot stops. HubSpot does not run on our other pages, and what you type into forms on our website is never sent to HubSpot. If you then apply to become a partner, we can link these visits to your partner sales record (see "Partner Sales Records" above).

Analytics and cookies. Our website and the SCNE app use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google that uses cookies and similar technologies. It tells us how people use them, for example the pages viewed, how long visits last, the website that sent you, and your browser, operating system, device type and IP address. When someone joins the waitlist, we also tell Google Analytics the type of sign-up and the campaign it came from, but not the person's name or contact details. We use this to understand and improve our website, the app and our campaigns. Our Cookie Policy at https://scne.ae/cookies explains the cookies our website uses, including essential, analytics and functional cookies, and how to block or delete them in your browser.

Where your data is processed. Some of our service providers, including Google, HubSpot and our payment processor, Stripe, store or process data outside the UAE. HubSpot stores our partner sales records and the data from our pages for businesses in the European Union. We share with them only what they need to provide their services to us.

How We Measure Our Marketing

We keep our own record of how people find SCNE, so that we can tell which of our campaigns, social media posts, partners, events and printed materials work. It covers our website (scne.ae), our partner portal (behindthe.scne.ae), the SCNE web app (app.scne.ae) and the SCNE app (once when it is first opened, and whenever it is opened from a link). It is separate from Google Analytics and HubSpot, and we do not send it to them or to any advertising platform.

What we record. Your browser, or the SCNE app, is given a random visitor number that says nothing about you. With it we note when you arrived, the page you first opened (not the rest of its address, or any name or code in it), the tags on the link you followed (utm tags such as the source, medium and campaign name, a code such as the one on our printed QR codes, or an SCNE referral code), any click code an advertising platform added to the link (such as Google's gclid or Meta's fbclid), the name of the website that sent you (never the full address), the app that opened the link (such as Instagram or TikTok), and whether you used a phone, tablet or computer and its operating system. We do not record your IP address, your browser's full details or a fingerprint of your device. To protect this service from misuse, our servers briefly count requests from each internet address using a scrambled form of it, which is deleted within 8 days.

Short links and links between our sites. When you open one of our short links (scne.ae/go/…), we count it and send you on to the page it points to. When you follow a link from one of our websites to another of them, or into the SCNE app, we may add your visitor number to that link so that the two visits can be connected; it is removed from the address as soon as the page opens.

When you take a step with SCNE. If you join the waitlist, create an account, start, renew or cancel SCNE+, apply to become an SCNE partner, are approved as one or start a paid partner plan, we connect that step with the visitor number of the browser or app you used and, once you are signed in, with your account. For the waitlist we use the reference number of your sign-up, never your name or email address. This shows us which visits came before the step, so that we can compare our marketing channels and what we spend on them. We look at the results in summary form; to check that the records are right, our team may also look at the visits behind a single step, without names or contact details. We do not use them to make decisions about you, and we do not sell them.

How you heard about SCNE. When you create an account, we may ask how you heard about SCNE. Answering is optional. We keep your answer with your account and use it next to the records above.

How long we keep it. The visitor number is kept in a cookie called scne_vid, in your browser's local storage, or in the SCNE app's own storage, for up to 13 months. We delete the record of each visit and each step 13 months after it happened, and advertising click codes after 90 days. If you delete your SCNE account, the records connected to it are deleted with it; your answer to how you heard about SCNE, and your choice if you switch this measurement off, are kept until then.

Your choices. We record nothing from a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control signal. You can switch this measurement off for our website, partner portal and web app on our Cookie Policy page at https://scne.ae/cookies, and in the SCNE app in Profile settings or in the app's Privacy Policy. Switching it off stops new records from that browser or app. When you are signed in there, the signal or the switch also stops new records for your account, including the steps above. To ask us to delete the records we already hold, email privacy@scne.ae.

Keeping Your Data Safe

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data. No way of sending or storing data over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your personal data for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, unless the law requires us to keep it for longer. Some sections above give specific periods.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will tell you about material changes by publishing the updated policy in the app and on our website with a new "Last updated" date.
