Why weekdays go quiet

Dubai eats out at the weekend: Friday brunch, Saturday nights and long Sunday lunches. For many restaurants the gaps are weekday lunches away from the office districts, the hours after the lunch rush, and Monday to Wednesday evenings.

A city-wide discount fills those gaps at the cost of your busy nights, because the people who would have paid full price use it too. What works is an offer tied to the quiet slot, a reason to come that day, and a way for people to hear about it when they are choosing.

What SCNE gives you for a quiet weekday

  • An offer on your days and times only. Set your member offer, such as money off the food bill or a 2-for-1, to run on the days and hours you choose, for example Monday to Thursday from 14:00 to 17:00. SCNE+ members see it on your venue page and in the Discounts tab.
  • A monthly limit per member. Choose how many times each member can use the offer each month. It resets on the 1st, and members see how many uses they have left.
  • A weekday business lunch, listed. List your set lunch as a deal. Members find it under Business lunch in the app's Food category, and can search and filter by area, such as Business Bay, DIFC or Dubai Marina.
  • Midweek events. List a quiz night, a tasting, live music or a supper evening. Members RSVP in the app and can see who else is going.
  • Perks for people who work rosters. Write an offer just for cabin crew, teachers or healthcare workers, or aim an event at them or at hospitality teams and fitness pros. Many of them work shifts rather than Monday to Friday, so they are often free when your tables are empty.
  • Bookings that come straight to you. Your Book button opens your own booking system, with no commission on bookings. Your partner dashboard shows member redemptions and booking clicks from SCNE, so you can see which slot is working.

An example: weekday lunch near the Business Bay offices

This is an illustration, not a real SCNE partner. Say you run a café-restaurant in Business Bay that is full from 12:30 to 14:00 on weekdays, quiet by 15:00, and half empty on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

  • Lunch: list your business lunch with its set price, so members find it under Business lunch and in searches for lunch in Business Bay.
  • The quiet afternoon: add a member offer of 15% off the food bill from Monday to Thursday, 14:30 to 17:30, up to twice a month per member.
  • Monday and Tuesday nights: list a weekly event, such as a quiz or a set-menu supper, and a 2-for-1 on main courses for those two evenings only.
  • After four weeks: check redemptions and booking clicks in your partner dashboard, keep what filled tables and change what did not.
